Founded in Michigan in 2014, Futsal Factory Academy was built on a methodology that prioritizes the technical, tactical, and physical demands of futsal—a faster, more dynamic version of the game. Beyond skill development, our training challenges players mentally, ensuring they not only understand the nuances of futsal but also how its technical and tactical aspects translate to modern soccer.

As Xavi, Spanish National Team and FC Barcelona legend, once said:

"In futsal, you know whether a player is really talented. In normal football, you don't necessarily identify talent as easily because it's much more physical. But with futsal, you notice the small details in quality, class, and tactical understanding."

Led by Daniel Mattos, former US Men’s Futsal National Team player (2021 FIFA World Cup) and current US Women’s Futsal National Team Assistant Coach; ILFFA mission is to develop top futsal players in Illinois, teaching the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of the game the right way. By mastering these elements, players can apply their futsal skills to outdoor soccer at an accelerated rate, gaining an edge in creativity, speed of play, and decision-making.

Winter Academy Teams

Program Details:

  • U8-HS Ages

  • 14-15 training sessions (1 hr 15 min each)

  • Friday evenings (November through March, schedule released in the fall)

  • Location: CANLAN Sports Libertyville (1950 N US Highway 45, Libertyville, IL 60048)

Tournaments:

  • 2 local tournaments Included:

    • FFA Invitatonal: New Berlin/Franklin, WI (Jan/Feb)

    • Midwest Futsal Winter Cup – Libertyville, IL. Boys Feb 27-Mar 1 & Girls Mar 6-8

  • Optional out-of-state tournaments (additional cost, to be determined based on team level and tournament confirmations)

  • Elite-level teams may be invited to compete in US Youth Futsal Regionals, US Futsal Regionals, or USA Futsal World Championship (separate program)

2025-26 Tuition & Billing:

  • U10 & Older: $610 (includes 14/15 sessions + 2 tournaments)

  • U8 & U9: $545 (includes 14/15 sessions + Midwest Futsal Winter Cup)

    • If a second tournament is added, there will be no extra charge.

  • Payment Plans Available: $160 deposit required at registration

Mini Futsal

IlFFA Mini Futsal is designed to ignite a love for soccer and futsal through engaging games and structured activities. Players will develop balance, coordination, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, all while being introduced to the fundamentals of futsal and soccer, including dribbling, shooting, passing, and receiving. Each session includes at least 15 minutes of structured gameplay, helping young athletes apply what they learn in a fun, supportive environment. Every week, players will also explore soccer cultures from around the world, expanding their knowledge of the global game. Parent participation is not required.

  • 15-week program

  • 1-hour sessions

  • Location: CANLAN Sports Libertyville (1950 N US Highway 45, Libertyville, IL 60048)

  • Time: Fridays, 4:15 - 5:15 PM

2024-25 Training Dates:

  • November: 8, 15, 22

  • December: 6, 13, 20

  • January: 3, 10, 17, 24, 31

  • February: 7, 14, 21, 28

  • March: 14 (make-up date if needed)

  • Sundays may be used for make-up sessions as needed.

Fees:

  • Full Program: $260

  • Drop-In (if space available): $20 (Cash, Venmo, or Zelle)

Lake Barrington Training

The Lake Barrington Training Program is a training-only program designed to provide high-level individual skill development in a fast-paced futsal environment. Sessions focus on technical execution, decision-making, individual attacking and defending tactics, and situational problem-solving—helping players sharpen their abilities without the commitment of tournament play. Players are placed in the most appropriate training group based on gender, age, and skill level, as assessed by coaches during the first 1-2 sessions.

  • 15-week program (Sundays)

  • Location: Canlan Sports Lake Barrington (28156 W Northpointe Pkwy, Barrington, IL 60010)

  • Time Slots:

    • 4:30-5:45 PM

    • 5:45-7:00 PM

    • 7:00-8:15 PM (if needed)

  • Age Groups: U8-U17 (2017-2008) Boys & Girls

  • No teams formed – this program is training-only.

Join ILFFA Director, former US Men’s Futsal National Team player and current US Women’s Futsal Women’s National Team Assistant coach Daniel Mattos alongside our ILFFA coaching staff for an immersive futsal training experience.

Futsal has played a critical role in the development of soccer legends like Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo, and Coutinho, all of whom credit futsal for shaping their technical abilities. This camp is designed to translate those same futsal benefits to the outdoor game through skill development, expert coaching, and game-like scenarios.

ILFFA Camp Focus:

  • Week 3: Players must bring futsal (flats) and soccer (cleats) shoes each day

  • Week 1 and 3: At the end of each session, players compete in scrimmages, representing traditional futsal and soccer nations in a World Cup-style tournament

Midwest Futsal Winter Cup

Test your futsal skills against top competition from across the Midwest!

With growing demand and a new facility layout (8 courts reduced to 6), the tournament is now split into two weekends to accommodate all interested teams. Spots are extremely limited, and registration does not guarantee participation— Boys teams will be confirmed by February 21st and Girls teams will be confirmed by February 27th.

  • Boys Divisions (U8 – High School) | February 27 - March 1, 2026

    • Fri, Feb 27 games for local and interested teams only

    • Birth Years: 2018-2007

    • Registration Deadline: February 13

  • Girls Divisions (U8 – High School) | March 6-7, 2025

  • Flights are determined by age group, competition level, and number of applicants

  • Daniel Mattos

    Executive and Program Director

    Daniel Mattos, a former US Men’s Futsal National Team player (2015-2022) and USSF A Licensed Coach, has over 15 years of coaching experience in futsal and soccer. Originally from Brazil, he played collegiately at Penn State and the University of West Florida before co-founding Michigan Futsal Factory Academy in 2014 and expanding it to Illinois in 2016 as IL Futsal Factory Academy’s founder and director. Daniel is currently the Assistant Coach for the US Women’s Futsal National Team

  • Kurt Krupa

    Program Director & Coach

    Kurt Krupa has been with ILFFA since its inception, bringing years of experience from coaching at Libertyville FC 1974, Fox Valley Strikers, and Chicago Magic SC. A former Eastern Illinois University player (2001-2004), he is passionate about developing young athletes in futsal and soccer while also serving as a teacher at Vernon Hills High School.

  • Hugo Fonseca

    Coach & Technical Director

    Hugo, a Brazilian futsal coach and former professional player, has over five years of coaching experience in the U.S. and previously worked as a technical assistant at an academy club in Brazil. He has coached at Bolingbrook SC, IL Futsal Factory Academy, and TetraBrazil, bringing expertise from high-level futsal training courses and his playing background with Flamengo, Fluminense, and the Rio de Janeiro State Team U15.

  • Mitko Dzhurov

    Coach

    Mitko is a USSF National B Licensed Coach, has extensive experience in player development and coaching methodology, holding certifications from La Liga and USSF Youth Programs. A former player for FC Kom Berkovitsa and the Bulgarian U18 & U19 National Team, he brings a deep understanding of the game from both a playing and coaching perspective.

  • Bruno Tolentino

    Coach

    Bruno, a Brazilian futsal and soccer coach, has been coaching since 2015, including experience as a head coach for multiple youth clubs across the U.S. He holds a BA in Physical Education from Universidade Católica of Brasília and has worked with TetraBrazil, Boca Juniors Academy Brasília, and Mount Horeb SC. A former semi-pro futsal player, Bruno brings a deep understanding of player development and training methodology to his coaching.

  • Lucas Ahonen

    Coach

    After playing for IL Futsal Factory Academy for 6 years, Lucas became the first player to progress into a coach for our Illinois branch. During his time with ILFFA, Lucas captained his 2006 boys team to our Academy's first ever National Championship in 2022. He has 2 years of coaching experience with youth teams, in addition to working youth soccer camps and individual/small group training sessions.
